Seven bilateral agreements signed in Belarus

Seven bilateral agreements in the commercial-economic sector, justice, transport, public administration and culture have been signed during President Nicolae Timofti’s two-day visit to Belarus. While in Minsk, the head of state had meetings with his counterpart Aleksandr Lukashenko, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Mikhail Myasnikovich and Prime Minister Andrei Kobeakov, IPN reports.

According to the presidential press service, the two heads of state noted with satisfaction that the bilateral relations between Moldova and Belarus have intensified during the past year, especially after the visit paid by Aleksandr Lukashenko to Chisinau last September, when a series of measures aimed at facilitating bilateral trade were agreed.

As a result, Moldova’s exports to Belarus in the first five months of 2015 increased by over 11% compared with the corresponding period last year, to almost US$50 million. The annual bilateral trade between the two countries exceeds US$420 million.

Nicolae Timofti and Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the traditional economic relations between the two states can develop even if Moldova and Belarus belong to different economic areas.
