The faction of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova prepared a number of draft decisions, including a draft censure motion against the Strelet Government and a draft decision to initiate the procedure for dismissing the head of state, the party’s leader Igor Dodon said in a press briefing held on October 4, following an attempt to convoke Parliament, IPN reports.

“The Socialist faction came to the Parliament Building to convene an extraordinary sitting. We regret that no other MPs came, including the independents. We drafted a censure motion against the Strelet Government. It was signed by 24 Socialist MPs. Next week it could be signed by another 26 MPs. The proposal to initiate the dismissal of the head of state was signed by 24 MPs. We need ten more signatures. Another proposal envisions the firing of the heads of a number of institutions that are to blame for the theft of the billion and for the deplorable situation in the country. One more proposal provides for the amendment of the Constitution so that it allows for the direct election of the head of state,” said Igor Dodon.

He noted that they aim to solve the country’s problems by parliamentary ways. “We will make everything possible to avoid destabilization. We will do our utmost for Parliament to be dissolved and early legislative elections to be called,” stated the Socialists’ leader.

As to the tents put up on the main artery of Chisinau two days ago, by which traffic was blocked, Igor Dodon said the boulevard was unblocked before the start of the workweek, but the pressure exerted by the Socialists will yet grow.

The Party of Socialists and the Political Party “Our Party” postponed the large-scale protest set to take place in the square before the Parliament Building on October 4 in order to avoid provocations given that the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” also invited its supporters to the central square of Chisinau, which is located nearby, the same day.
