The Socialist councilors of the Chisinau Municipal Council complain that they are threatened with use of violence because they struggle against illegal constructions. Councilor Alexandru Odintsov told a news conference that his car was vandalized, but this wasn’t an ordinary act of vandalism as he was also threatened earlier, IPN reports.

The councilor said the he is not afraid of the threats and will continue to fight the erecting of illegal constructions in Chisinau. “We demand that all the construction companies obey the law. We also demand that all the state institutions should fulfill their obligations. We identified a series of schemes based on which the municipal property is stolen, in particular the land on which illegal constructions are erected,” stated Alexandru Odintsov.

He called on the nongovernmental organizations to examine all the illegal constructions and announced that he will request imposing a moratorium on all these constructions.

The Socialist said that a rostrum will be set up in front of the City Hall next Monday for each resident of Chisinau municipality to be able to state their opinions and problems there. The platform will be placed there every Monday.
