Socialists’ youth wing to hold congress this weekend

The youth organization of the Party of Socialists of Moldova – the Youth Guard – will stage its first congress on November 11, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Our organization will start work immediately after the congress. We aim to implement a number of projects, especially in the area of youth. The congress will elect the organization’s council. We will not have a leader who will take all the decisions. The opinion of every member counts in our organization. The fact that we left the Union of Young Communists of Moldova does not mean that we betrayed our ideals,” member of the Youth Guard Marina Radvan told a news conference. Another member Nichita Turcan said the organization has nothing in common with the Russian organization with the same name (Youth Guard). “We invited to our congress representatives of the Youth Guard and of other youth organizations from European countries. This way, we want to show that we are open for cooperation both at national and foreign levels,” he stated. The young Socialists also said that their organization consists of 400 persons. 200 of them are former members of the Union of Young Communists of Moldova, while the other 200 joined them lately as they share the same ideas, especially the country’s Moldovenization. The members of the Youth Guard are sure that the Party of Socialists will support them in all their activities and said that every member of the organization can run for one of the party’s executive posts.
