The spring-summer session of the legislative body was the most significant session. In this period, Parliament showed that it remains one of the fundamental institutions of the state, the leader of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu said in a news conference. According to him, during this session the PDM pursued two major goals that were achieved – to promote and support the European course and Moldova’s social agenda, IPN reports.
As to the first priority, Marian Lupu said the Association Agreement with the EU is the most important accomplishment of Moldova, while its ratification represents a very important step towards strengthening the country’s European course. The ratification of this accord means that Moldova is heading for the EU, but also wants to maintain good relations with the partners from the East.
As regards the second priority, Marian Lupu said the social program is a derivative of the European integration policy. He mentioned the laws by which the social welfare for pensioners and the tariff salary for teachers and doctors were increased.
Among other important laws that were passed in the final reading, the Democratic leader enumerated the Education Code and the strategy for reforming the prosecution service.
Marian Lupu referred also to the bills that weren’t adopted in the final reading, including the bill to introduce the mixed electoral system instead of the proportional one, which will be promoted insistently by the PDM in the next legislature, and the bill to modify the pension system so that the pensions are raised based on a different percentage level, not on the same percentage level as now.
The Democratic parliamentary group will also promote the bill to reduce the payments for legalizing inheritance documents. It was ascertained that at district level, over 40% of all the possessions do not have the required documents owing to the cadastral payments that amount to 5,000 lei. The PDM suggests that these payments should be reduced by up to 70%.
The autumn-winter session of Parliament starts on September 5.
