Suburbs supported Chirtoaca more, while Chisinau - Dodon
The Liberal Party’s deputy chairman Dorin Chirtoaca won a majority of votes in the suburbs of Chisinau, while his Communist opponent Igor Dodon enjoyed greater support among the voters in the capital city, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the data made public by the CEC, Dorin Chirtoaca won the elections in the following settlements: Bacioi (81.87%), Bubuieci (62.49%), Budesti (71.79%), Ciorescu (57.04%), Codru (63.83%), Colonita (81.51%), Condrita (68.26%), Cruzesti (78.65%), Durlesti (69.85%), Ghidighici (80.78%), Gratiesti (87.13%), Sangera (66.26%), Stauceni (63.59%), Tohatin (74.75%), and Truseni (78.78%).
In the suburbs, Igor Dodon polled the largest number of votes in Cricova (50.07%), Vadul lui Voda (59.39%) and Vatra (54.02%).
In Chisinau, Igor Dodon surpassed Dorin Chirtoaca in the districts of Botanica (59.64%), Buiucani (50.65%), and Rascani (54.70%). In the districts of Ciocana and Centru, more electors voted for Dorin Chirtoaca – 52.20% and, respectively, 51.68%.
According to the preliminary election outcome, Dorin Chirtoaca won the elections by a narrow margin – 50.6% as opposed to 49.4% scored by Igor Dodon.
