Superior Council of Magistracy has new members

Three judges were re-confirmed and another three were chosen to serve on the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM). The General Assembly of Judges convened on October 20 to vote the candidates, IPN reports.

The standing members of the Council are: Petru Moraru and Victor Micu, from among judges of the Supreme Court of Justice (the latter held the post of SCM president until recently); Nina Cernat and Alexadru Gheorghies, from among judges of the Appeals Courts, Dorel Musteata and Anatolie Galben, from among judges of ordinary courts of law.

Of the six, three were re-confirmed, namely: Victor Micu, whose term in office expires next January, Nina Cernat (this November), and Dorel Mustata (in October 2018).

Luiza Gafton, of the Supreme Court of Justice, and Anatolie Pahopol, of the Appeals Court, were chosen as substitute member.

The standing members of the SCM’s Disciplinary Board are: Ala Cobaneanu and Nadejda Toma, of the Supreme Court of Justice, Elena Cobzac and Anatolie Minciuna, of the Appeals Courts, and Aliona Miron, from among judges.
