Supporters of Andrei Nastase demand validation of election in the street

The supporters of mayor-elect Andrei Nastase, who is the leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, demand that the election should be validated. Dozens of people gathered together in the evening of June 21 at the Chisinau City Hall and also at the Chisinau Appeals Court that is examining the appeal filed by the lawyers for Andrei Nastase following the Court of Chisinau’s decision to not validate the election, IPN reports.

Attending the protest at the City Hall, the leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu said each persons is now important as each vote was important in elections. “If we don’t defend democracy today, those who perhaps didn’t vote now, when they want to vote next time, their vote will no longer count. Not only those who didn’t vote for Andrei Nastase should be here. All those who consider that they have the right to vote and that their vote counts should be here too. We should be able to change the power. We should be able to decide who deserves to represent us,” stated the politician.

“We should show them once again that we decide how we want to live. It is our constitutional right. We voted and the vote belongs to us. We all now fight for out right to vote, which is enshrined in the Constitution,” said the secretary general of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Kiril Motpan.

Virgil Paslariuc, a member of the National Political Bureau of the Party “Action and Solidarity, said such a wrongdoing in Bessarabia was committed for the first time. The elections were nullified because of some likes. “The freedoms are not proclaimed. They are conquered. The people can no longer be manipulated,” he stated.

In parallel with the protest mounted in front of the City Hall, supporters of Andrei Nastase gathered to demand that the election of Nastase as mayor should be validated at the Appeals Courts on Teilor St. They chanted “Validate the election!”; “City Hall is ours, jail is yours!”, “Nastase is the mayor!” etc.
