Swiss assistance for Moldova to be augmented

The assistance provided by Switzerland to Moldova over the next three years will rise from 30 million to 55 million Swiss francs. It will go to support projects in healthcare, water supply and migration. The issue was discussed in a meeting of the Moldovan delegation headed by Speaker Igor Corman with Swiss officials in Bern, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Parliament’s press service, the officials also spoke about the situation in the Transnistrian region and the talks in the 5+2 format, given that Switzerland holds the OSCE Chairmanship in 2014. Igor Corman proposed organizing a visit by the President of the Swiss Confederation Didier Burkhalter to Moldova in the near future.

As to the situation in Ukraine, the Speaker said that Moldova pleads for the territorial integrity of the neighboring state and hopes that the efforts of the international community will result in the stabilization of the situation and the democratic development of the country.

The parliamentary delegation also visited the press center of the Swiss Parliament, where they discussed the conditions in which the mass media representatives work to cover the activity of the legislative body.
