“The elections began to be prepared in concert and things started to improve,” Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca told a news conference after the PLDM withdrew Victor Bodiu from the electoral race for the mayoralty of Chisinau and announced it will support the current mayor, Info-Prim Neo reports. “During half a year, we had called on our colleagues to run together in these elections so that we have a powerful majority and solutions in the Municipal Council and continue work at the City Hall. We stated that it is not the right time for confrontation between us. At this stage, we must make effort for the battle to be decisive and in favor of democracy, freedom and the European future of Chisinau and Moldova,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. “The results achieved during the last four years are due not only to the mayor general, but also to the entire team of the executive, which consists of a democratic alliance.” Asked if he expects the PDM to withdraw its candidate as well, Dorin Chirtoaca said it is important to make effort and unite all the forces so as to score a clear victory over communism.
