Trophey of George Grigoriu contest comes to Chisinau again
The trophy of the international pop music contest George Grigoriu that took place in the Romanian town of Braila during May 14-16 was won by Moldovan singers the third consecutive year. This time, it went to the soloist of the band Millenium, Olga Gorcinski. In 2009, the trophy was won by Pavel Parfenii, while in 2008 – by Angelica Vasilkov, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Twenty-three singers aged between 16 and 29 competed for the trophy of the festival and the Opel car worth €13,000. They represented seven countries, counting France, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, and Romania.
The winner of the top prize is Daniel Anghel from Bucharest, the younger brother of the singer Monica Anghel. The second prize went to Ioan Mani from Cluj, while the third prize – to Cristina Vasiu from Hunedoara.
The singers from Bulgaria, France, Ukraine and Switzerland obtained special prizes. Plamen Borisov from Bulgaria, who won a diploma, said George Grigoriu is one of the toughest competitions in which he participated and he is proud of the prize he received.
Moldova was represented by three contenders. Eugenia Carabut from Chisinau won a prize for participation, Cristina Croitoru from Dubasari – the prize of the Union of Musicians and Composers of Romania, while Olga Gorcinski – the trophy. “The work as part of a team and the perseverance helped me to win,” Olga Gorcinski said.
Romanian composer Horia Moculescu, who was a member of the jury, stated for Info-Prim Neo that Moldova presented its best talents, as always. “It was a stiff competition as there were many very good voices,” the composer said. “But Olga Gorcinski came with the homework learned. She performed the song “Eternity” composed by George Grigoriu very well. Cristina Croitoru also did well. You indeed have great talents.”
Another member of the jury, Runeana Naceva from Bulgaria, also praised the Moldovan competitors. “For the first time, I saw Olga Gorcinski performing at the international contest Twin Hearts in Chisinau, several years ago. She is a very talented girl and a real artist,” Rumeana Naceva said.
Immediately after the festival, the band Millenium left for Poland to take part in another international competition. They will return home in a week.
