Turkey expected to obtain visa-free regime with Moldova in a year
In a year, the citizens of Turkey may enter Moldova visa free. The subject had been discussed at bilateral political consultations in Chisinau during several days. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman said that Moldova and Turkey share a number of areas of interest, including the liberalization of the visa regime, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The political dialogue is very efficient, the bilateral trade develops and Turkey is an important socioeconomic partner of Moldova. There are many Moldovans living in Turkey and students studying there. Turkey also provides scholarships for our students. Thus, there are preconditions for liberalizing the visa regime between Moldova and Turkey,” said Natalia Gherman.
According to the deputy minister, when Moldovan opened the talks on the liberalization of the visa regime with the EU, there were imposed certain conditions. “First of all we must negotiate the readmission agreement with our Turkish partners. When it is agreed and implemented, we will be able to say more exactly when the visa regime is liberalized,” said Natalia Gherman.
The readmission agreements and visa regime liberalization agreements are a condition imposed on Moldova in the context of the Moldova-EU negotiations on visas. “We must fulfill these conditions. I'm sure that when the parties agree the objectives, we will achieve the projected results, both for the Moldovan citizens and for the Turkish ones,” she said the deputy minister.
Moldova is to sign readmission agreements with third countries that want a visa-free regime with Moldova and are not part of the EU.
