A number of 12 candidates will run in the March 22 elections for the Bashkan (Governor) of Gagauzia. They were registered as election runners by the February 19 deadline.

The chairman of the Comrat Election Commission Valentin Cara has told IPN that the election runners can campaign until March 21. They can put electoral posters in authorized places, can take part in public debates and meet with the voters. The Commission will make effort to ensure equal election campaign conditions for each candidate.

As a result of a draw, it was established that Valerii Ianioglo will be written the first in the ballot. He will be followed by Serghei Buzadji, Ruslan Garbaly, Nicolae Dudoglo, Oleg Caicy, Irina Vlah, Oleg Garizan, Alexandru Stoianoglo, Serghei Cernev, Dumitru Croitor, Ilia Anastasov, and Leonid Dobrov.

The first round of the Bashkan elections in Gagauzia will take place on March 22. If necessary, the second round will be held on April 5.
