Twenty-eight electoral contenders registered in single-member constituencies

A number of 88 applications for registering candidates for MP in single-member constituencies have been submitted by January 1, 2019. Also, the electoral councils of single-member constituencies registered 251 initiative groups for supporting candidates for MP, issuing these with subscription lists, IPN reports.

The Central Election Commission said 28 electoral competitors were registered in single-member constituencies. The decisions on their registration and other information of public interest will be placed on the Commission’s official website in the “Parliamentary elections 2019” division, rubric “Electoral constituencies”.

The deadline for submissions for registering initiative groups for supporting candidates for MP in single-member constituencies is January 4, 2019.

In single-member constituencies, the person goes to the district electoral council where this wants to run and submits an application for being issued with subscription lists. To be registered by the district electoral council, the candidate in a single-member constituency should present the subscription lists with the signatures of at least 500 and at most 1,000 supporters with the right to vote from the single-member constituency where this intends to run. A female candidate can be registered if she presents the signatures of at least 250 and at most 500 supporters with the right to vote from the single-member constituency where this intends to run.

The set of required documents is filed to the council together with the signatures. The electoral body takes a decision as to the registration or non-registration of candidates within seven days of the receipt of the documents.
