Two men use elaborate scheme to steal money and belongings
After puncturing a tire, two Chisinau residents followed the driver until he stopped the car to change the wheel and stole his money and things from the car. This method is known as “like in Moscow”. The men are aged 25 and 32. They had been earlier convicted of theft and hooliganism, Adrian Jovmir, the head of the General Police Commissariat's press office, has told Info-Prim Neo.
While the 53-year-old driver of a Volkswagen Golf was shopping at an auto market, the men punctured a tire and waited in their car. Later, they pursued the car, which stopped not far from Stauceni village. While the driver was changing the wheel, one of the men stole from the car the handbag with 10,000 lei and €300, a mobile phone “Nokia” and other things valued at 18,000 lei.
The police of Chisinau's Rascani district caught the two men shortly afterward. They are liable to fines of 6,000 to 20,000 lei or up to four years in jail over theft.
