Potential members of the newly elected Parliament Sergiu Sirbu, who is under No 12 on the Democratic Party’s list of candidates, and Bogdan Tirdea, who is the twelfth on the Party of Socialists’ list, accused each other in the program “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
Sergiu Sirbu reiterated the PDM’s position that the country’s neutrality status must be kept and that a pro-European coalition must be formed. It was a difficult election campaign and the people were most often confused because of the Socialists’ campaign. “We went from home to home. The people were bewildered because they didn’t understand why they were forced to choose between Russia and Europe. We delivered a pacifying message to them,” he stated.
In this connection, Bogdan Tirdea attacked his future colleague in Parliament, saying the Democrats were those who scared the people by speaking about the danger of war. The Democratic Party held the main posts in the state and now intends to occupy them again. The post of prosecutor general will be again held by this party.
The Democrat replied that the law was already modified and the next prosecutor general will not be named by Parliament, but by the head of state, at the suggestion of the Supreme Council of Prosecutors.
Speaking about a possible left coalition in the newly elected legislative body, Bogdan Tirdea said that even if the Socialists want it, an alliance with the Party of Communists is rather improbable.
“The PSRM submitted such a proposal, but Mister Voronin said that he will not form a coalition with the traitors. In fact, the PCRM never said that they will not form a coalition with the oligarchic parties. A PLDM-PDM-PCRM coalition is not excluded and the PSRM and PL will be thus left outside,” he stated.
In the same program, journalist Vasile Botnaru said that some of the people voted for the PSRM in order to show their dissatisfaction with the ruling so that Igor Dodon should bear in mind that their voters can include people with another option than the pro-Russian one.
