Two candidates are applying for the post of Head of Parliament - Igor Corman, who was proposed by the Democratic Party, and Sergiu Stati, who was put forward by the Communist Party. The MPs are to elect the Speaker by crossing in the ballot the name of the candidate against whom they vote with the pen, IPN reports.

Alexandru Stoianoglo, chairman of the commission for organizing the election, said that the candidates in the ballots are written in the order in which they were fielded. Igor Corman is the first.

The Head of Parliament is elected by secret vote in polling booths. The procedure lasts for 60 minutes. The candidate who polls at least 51 votes of the 101 becomes the winner.

After the voting and announcement of the results, Prime Minister designate Iurie Leanca will present his government program and team and will ask for a vote of confidence from Parliament.
