University system supplemented with new specialties
The young people who prefer humanities, especially history, will be able to study a new specialty called Archivistics following amendments to the Nomenclature of professional formation areas and specialties for preparing staff for higher education institutions, approved by the Government, Info-Prim Neo reports
The legislative initiative was put forward by MP Oleg Bodrug. The author argued that the young people should study the legislation on archiving and the document storing and keeping practices and learn to analyze the archive sources.
Under the same initiative, the Nomenclature will be also supplemented with the specialty Management of Cultural Patrimony. The students who will graduate from this faculty will be able to work in the area of cultural-historical monument protection.
The Study of Religions specialty will be included in the Nomenclature’s humanities section. The students will be train to teach the moral-spiritual education and history. There will be also prepared auxiliary personnel for cultural research institutions like museums and archives.
Slavistics is the last new specialty proposed. The students will learn to use the historical sources of such Slavic countries as Poland, Bulgaria, and Serbia, whose archives contain numerous historical data about Moldova.
The Ministry of Education considers the inclusion of the mentioned specialties in the university system will contribute to an improved quality of higher education and to better preparation of the specialists.
