The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) fielded Serafim Urecheanu for the post of president of the Audit Office, the party’s leader, Prime Minister Vlad Filat announced in a press briefing on April 15, Info-Prim Neo reports. Under the legislation, the president of the Audit Office is appointed by Parliament by a majority vote, at the suggestion of the Speaker, who holds consultations with the legally constituted parliamentary groups first. The tenure as president of the Audit Office is five years. Current president Ala Popescu was named to the post on December 22, 2005.
