U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James Pettit said the Parliament’s half-empty assembly hall suggests that many of the Moldovan lawmakers do not share the feeling of urgency regarding the necessity of forming a new government, IPN reports, quoting a message posted on a social networking site.
“The half-empty assembly hall of Parliament suggests that many of the Moldovan lawmakers do not share our feeling of urgency as regards the necessity of forming a new government that could institute the so necessary reforms,” says the official’s message.
The January 4 special sitting of Parliament, where the MPs were to consider giving a vote of confidence to the government program and list of candidates for minister proposed by Ion Sturza, didn’t take place for the reason that 54 MPs were absent. Today, January 5, President Nicolae Timofti resumed consultations with the parliamentary parties with a view to designating a new candidate for premiership. The parties restarted the talks between them.
