U.S. Ambassador to Moldova William H. Moser considers that the people in the election period should ask the politicians how specifically they intend to fight corruption, whose level is particularly high, IPN reports.
In the program “Without myths” produced in the studio of the Chisinau newspaper “Panorama”, William H. Moser said that nothing in Moldova can be solved without bribes.
“There are yet many problems related to corruption. In order to significantly improve the situation, the voters must have a say. For example, they can say: “We no more want corruption in our state; it’s time to root it out,” stated the diplomat.
William H. Moser is convinced that the level of democracy in the country depends on the ordinary people, but these do not yet understand how democracy really works.
“Saying directly, the people are probably idle. Democracy never works if the voters are passive. They must be active in the political game and must formulate clear demands,” said the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova.
