Valeriu Munteanu demands to exclude Shor Party from race for Chisinau mayoralty

The Liberal Party’s candidate for mayor of Chisinau Valeriu Munteanu requested the Government to verify the sources of financing of the Miron Shor Foundation. According to him, the foundation that organizes a concert with the involvement of Russian singers in Chisinau on May 12 is maintained with foreign funds, IPN reports.

Valeriu Munteanu said the Miron Shor Foundation is homonymous with the Shor Party that has a candidate running for the mayoralty of Chisinau. But the Election Code bans the financing of an election campaign with money from outside the country and the involvement of foreign personalities in election campaigns. The electoral competitor should be removed from the race for such reasons.

The Liberal candidate also requested the Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc and Prime Minister Pavel Filip to immediately prepare and issue a note by which Iosif Kobzon, one of the singers who are to perform at the May 12 concert, will be declared persona non-grata in Moldova. “I’m convinced that this will contribute to eliminating hybrid threats to the state and to consolidating the independence of the Republic of Moldova. Otherwise, you will be fully responsible for the undermining of Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and for the support for Transnistrian separatism,” stated Valeriu Muneanu.

He noted that Iosif Kobzon forms part of the hybrid propaganda army of Vladimir Putin and was banned from entering all the EU member states, the U.S. and Ukraine.
