Victor Gurau: Some clans with economic interest can endanger state security

The same persons who 16 years ago illegally appropriated half of the airline Air Moldova are behind the frauds committed at Banca de Economii . Some of the clans with economic interest existing in Moldova can endanger state security, director of the Center for Strategic Analysis and Monitoring “Alternative for Moldova” Victor Gurau said in a news conference at IPN. According to him, then the same players stole public property based on similar schemes.

Victor Gurau called on the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Security and Intelligence Service and the National Anticorruption Center to hold accountable those involved in the appropriation of Air Moldova for influence peddling and abuse of power. According to him, the leader of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase, who was then vice director of Air Moldova, took an active part in the taking over of the company in 2000, in collusion with other persons holding responsible posts, who are well known.

“I gave an example how the same players in 1999-2000 illegally appropriated half of the company Air Moldova, by using all the ill-will criteria. A period of stagnation of eight years followed and afterward the public property was stolen again, by the same players and based on the same scenarios. I refer here to Banca de Economii, which was involved in the scheme then too,” said the analyst. He also said that these clans that pursue economic goals have practically nothing holy and, in their struggle for money and power, they can endanger Moldova’s security.

Victor Gurau noted that the data of the Center for Strategic Analysis and Monitoring “Alternative for Moldova” show how the people were manipulated in the period when Moldova was a success story with the assistance of the press and representatives of civil society. “Since the start of 2015, they have disseminated the mythology of this pseudo-project “Where is the billion?”. The goals are different because the European success story of Moldova had a noble, mobilizing message, but their message is destructive. Together with those that committed the robberies, they try to explode the situation in the Republic of Moldova,” he stated.

According to the political analyst, in both of the cases the projects were financed from outside. “In the case of the success story, the activities were funded with European money, while in this case – also from external funds, but not European and for criminal purposes,” he stated.
