Victoria Iftodi sworn in

Victoria Iftodi was sworn in as minister of justice on March 19. The event involved Prime Minister Pavel Filip and President of Moldova Igor Dodon, who signed the appointment decree, IPN reports, with reference to the Government’s press service.

After the investiture ceremony, Pavel Filip presented Victoria Iftodi to the team of the Ministry of Justice, saying the new minister has a rich experience and will manage to advance the implementation of the reforms initiated in the justice sector. In this connection, the Premier noted that the reformation of this sector remains a priority for the Government.

“It is one of the three important reforms, alongside education and development of road infrastructure. If we want pensions, salaries, social and public investments, we should understand that the first thing that should be done is to reform the justice sector. Where there is correct and impartial justice, investors come and money comes to the budget of the Republic of Moldova,” noted Pavel Filip.

Victoria Iftodi underlined that she knows the problems faced in the system and, while in office, she will focus on the promotion of projects with a major impact for society. “I intend to continue the efforts made by the Government to implement the strategic directions announced in the justice sector. We are to do this reform not only in order to fulfill the commitments assumed before our development partners, but first and foremost for the benefit of our people,” stated the minister of justice.
