Visas reintroduced for citizens from Cuba and Ecuador

Citizens of Ecuador and Cuba are to obtain visas to enter the Republic of Moldova, according to IPN, a draft law approved by the government on Wednesday, reintroducing the visa regime with the two countries.

Mihai Mittu, secretary-general at the Foreign Ministry, said that the visa regime with Ecuador is being re-established following the denunciation of the agreement between the Moldovan and Ecuadorian governments on visa-free travel for citizens. In addition, the visa regime for citizens of the Republic of Cuba has been reintroduced, based on the same visa regime applied by Cuba for citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

At the same time, the Government approved a normative intervention, necessary to comply with the international obligations assumed by the Republic of Moldova by signing the agreements on the abolition of the visa regime for holders of diplomatic and service passports, concluded with the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of India.

The draft is to be sent to the Parliament for examination and adoption.
