The head of the extraparliamentary National-Liberal Party (PNL) Vitalia Pavlichenko considers that two parties – the PLDM and PCRM – increased the election threshold for entering Parliament in order to remain in power. Pavlichenko has told IPN that the amendments made to the Election Code show that there is no difference between the two parties and that they are pro-Russia forces.
“They raised the election threshold so that only they, the PLDM and PCRM, enter Parliament. There is now no difference between these two parties. They are pro-Russia, antidemocratic and anti-European forces that used the slogan of democracy and Europeanism in order to come to power and to steal,” said the head of the PNL.
Vitalia Pavlichenko stressed that the passed amendments show that the two parties aim to maintain the chaos so that Moldova cannot come closer to Romania
She also said that President Nicolae Timofti promulgated this law because he is under the influence of certain political forces.
The election threshold for parties was increased from 4% to 6% by adopting amendments to the Election Code. The given law was published in the Official Gazette on May 10.
