Vlad Filat returned from Brussels with €90m

Prime Minister Vlad Filat Friday returned from Brussels with the EU-Moldova Plan of Action approved by the European Commission. He also signed a grant agreement with the European Commission to the value of €90 million, Info-Prim Ne reports. “I congratulate all those who are attending and who see us as the EU-Moldova Plan of Action that envisions the liberalization of the visa regime was finalized and approved yesterday evening,” Vlad Filat told the reporters at the Chisinau International Airport, several minutes after the landing. The Premier said that in Brussels he had meetings with a number of European officials, including the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barosso and the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, with whom he discussed the Government’s work in 2010, the post-electoral situation in Moldova and the future prospects. According to the Prime Minister, the President of the European Council praised the Moldovan authorities for the way in which the November 28 elections were conducted as they met the democratic standards. Vlad Filat also said that the first tranche of €40 million of the grant agreement between the European Commission and Moldova will be transferred on December 20. “This agreement is an expression of the European Union’s friendly attitude and support provided to Moldova,” he stressed.
