The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) aims to be sufficiently powerful for assuming the reforms expected in Moldova during 25 years, the party’s first deputy chairman Vlad Plahotniuc said in a meeting with about 100 young people who recently joined the party, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the PDM.
“I think that Moldova has a chance to do the necessary reforms and to outstrip other countries, if we have a determined political class that acts without hesitation and without calculations to see if the measures are popular or not. The PDM’s plan that we never hid is for the party to be powerful enough to assume the reforms expected by the country during 25 years. If your aspirations are also to improve things in the country, you will find your place in the PDM,” stated Vlad Plahotniuc.
The discussions, held in the evening of July 26, centered on the reforms and changes expected by society and inside the political class. The meeting was held in an informal atmosphere, on the initiative of the PDM’s Youth Organization.
The main topics discussed included the current political situation, the development prospects of the country and the effects of the started reforms, the opportunities for the young people to assert themselves in Moldova and the motivations of those who want to enter now politics.
Asked how the current government will manage to change things in Moldova, Vlad Plahotniuc said the politicians must have a new, more responsible attitude to the people by which the mistaken rules from the past would be replaced by correct ones. “You now have an opportunity as you do not have to play according to the mistaken rules imposed by those from the past and you have the chance to create new, correct rules,” he told those attending.
For their part, the young people said the current government is different from the previous one, especially due to the political will to do reforms and the determination to continue on the path of European integration.
Vlad Plahotniuc also answered a number of personal questions about his youth and how he started his first business, the criteria according to which he chooses the people with whom he works and the sports he practices.
