The National Council of the Ecologist Party “Green Alliance” suspended the party's president Vladimir Braga. The announcement was made by the party's vice president and secretary general Andrei Dumbraveanu in a news conference on January 24, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Council gave a vote of no confidence to Vladimir Braga by suspending him for deviation from the ecologist doctrinaire ideology, said Andrei Dumbraveanu.
According to Dumbraveanu, Vladimir Braga was informed about the convening of the National Council, but he refused to take part in the meeting.
The National Council decided that the party's extraordinary congress will take place on February 27, when there will be taken a final decision as regards the dismissal or reinstatement of Vladimir Braga and the possible replacement of the administration of the Ecologist Party “Green Alliance”. The congress will take stock of the party's accomplishments in 2008-2010 and discuss the plans concerning this year's local elections.
Asked who may apply for the post of president of the Ecologist Party, vice president Anatol Prohnitski said all the members of the party who have a plan of action, including those from local organizations, can announce their candidacies for the post in the congress.
Twenty-five of the 39 members of the National Council voted in favor of the suspension of Vladimir Braga. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Vladimir Braga refused to comment on his party colleagues' decision.
