Communist leader Vladimir Voronin voted in Chisinau, accompanied by his wife, Taisia Voronin. After casting his vote, Voronin didn't hesitate to criticize the ruling Alliance for European Integration.
“They don't want to win the elections, but rather to steal democracy”, declared Vladimir Voronin, commenting on the Liberal Party's request for a recount of votes for the Chisinau City Council, which was accepted by the Court of Appeals.
The Communist leader also declared he voted today for the development of Chisinau and of Moldova's villages, for the restoration of order and for the “defeat of the governmental and local mafia”. “There are no rich or poor countries, there are poorly governed countries. Now we will join the campaign staff and will stay there till the end, till results are announced”, said Vladimir Voronin.
Today, June 19, local run-offs are held in 512 communities across Moldova.
