The chairman of the Party of Communists (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin believes it is very good that they ultimately started to clarify what happened at Banca de Economii and the ‘theft of the century’. In a news conference, the Communists’ leader stated that justice started to be done last Thursday (October 15, when Lib-Dem Vlad Filat was deprived of parliamentary immunity and arrested on corruption charges – e.n.), IPN reports.

“This ‘abscess’ must burst as they have spoken a lot about it and a lot of time passed already. Somebody wanted it not to burst so that the truth wasn’t discovered and the stealing was forgotten. They hurried to liquidate the bank not in vain,” said Vladimir Voronin. According to him, by liquidating Banca de Economii they wanted to hide the illegalities committed there.

The politician harshly criticized the ruling parties, saying they are unable to govern the country and can only divide posts and financial flows. The PCRM is ready to support any action so that the persons to blame for the bank frauds are held accountable. They consider a state-run bank should exist.

As to the investigation of the bank frauds by the U.S. company Kroll, Vladimir Voroning said it is a new scheme designed to obtain money because this company asks for 60% of the identified financial resources. It is the law enforcement institutions of Moldova that should investigate this case, as the law provides.
