Voronin about negotiations between PLDM, PDM and PL: Everyone knows how this coalition ended

“They go towards a repeat of the situation by themselves or under influence exerted from inside and outside. Such a coalition existed already and everyone knows how it ended and how the government of Filat and that of Leanca, which didn’t last for more than a week, ended. Things will repeat. We will not overcome the current catastrophic difficulties,” the leader of the Party of Communists (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin said, referring to the negotiations between the PLDM, PDM and PL. In an interview for Radio Free Europe, the Communist leader said that they, by this coalition, actually caused the crisis experienced nowadays, IPN reports.

Asked if this means that the PCRM will be removed, Vladimir Voronin said not the party, but a very large section of the population – about 50% of people who voted for the parties of the left – will be removed. “When they reach an agreement to form this alliance and will want to form it, they should think about the fact that they remove half of the population from the political activity and these people will not be represented in the government. We want to unite those who voted for the left and those who voted for the right. By our call, by the open letter to the whole Parliament, who aimed to join everyone together. It is now these parties that will take a decision,” he stated.

He noted that the PCRM is now neither morally, nor psychologically or politically ready to discuss the formation of a coalition of the left. He invited all the parliamentary groups to dialogue and considers that an ideal variant is to create a technocratic government without politicians delegated by parties. There should be constituted a special working group that will select the future members of the Government, starting with the Prime Minister.

The PCRM’s invitation was declined by the Party of Socialists. The Socialist leader Igor Dodon argued the Socialists do not form coalitions with the oligarchs and unionists. The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu also said that they will not hold talks with the PCRM, while the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat appreciated Voronin’s call for all the parliamentary parties to become involved in forming the Government, but said that such an idea is unachievable.
