Voting at psychiatric-neurological hospital in Branzeni, Edinet, annulled

The voting process at the psychiatric-neurological hospital in Branzeni, Edinet, was interrupted and all the votes cast earlier were invalidated. In a communiqué, the Moldova Institute for Human Rights (IDOM) says that initially the electoral bureau in Branzeni decided to send a mobile ballot box to this hospital, but voting there was stopped in half an hour and the votes of 20 persons were annulled, IPN reports.

According to the observers of the IDOM, the head of the electoral bureau of Branzeni Svetlana Moisa presented herself at the hospital in Branzeni and read a decision providing that the list and ballots used at the hospital must be annulled and a new list must be compiled. The decision was signed by seven members of the electoral bureau as a result of a challenge filed by a representative with the right to vote of the Liberal Democratic Party.

Svetlana Moisa announced that the voting process at the polling place in Branzeni will be extended by two hours. The IDOM said there are over 200 persons with the right to vote at that hospital.

The IDOM mobilized 30 national observers accredited by the Central Election Commission to supervise the voting process at 10 psychiatric institutions.
