We came to offer Moldova a sign of friendship, said the leader of the Social-Democratic Party of Romania, Victor Ponta. Alongside his party colleague and Chair of the Romanian Senate, Titus Corlatean, Ponta attended the Moldovan Parliament’s session on March 10. The PSD leader told journalists he was invited in Chisinau by PDM deputies, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“I’ve been invited by the Democratic Party, our colleague in the Socialist International. We will meet with Speaker Marian Lupu and have met with the leaders of the three factions we regard as partners. This is a sing of friendship and support for Moldova on its European and democratic path”, mentioned Victor Ponta.
The Romanian politician assured the Moldovan lawmakers that despite Romania’s internal battle between power and position, both sides shared the same view on the necessity to support Moldova’s European effort.
Currently, PSD is an opposition party in the Romanian legislature.
