Woman accused of murdering her partner rejects the accusations

Corina Cozlova, mother of one, accused of murdering her domestic partner, says that she did not file for a succession claim at the notary's office, as the lawyer representing the deceased’s two oldest daughters from a previous marriage claimed. Ms. Cozlova denied that she wanted to claim the deceased's bank accounts, pointing out that a single account exists. According to her, the existing account account has around a thousand lei in debt.

In a press conference at IPN, Corina Cozlova addressed the statements of the lawyer that represents the two daughters living in Germany. The woman says that one of them filed a succession claim on November 7, 2018. “I filed a statement at the notary's office on December 17. The relevant data can be confirmed by the notary, where the succession claim is filed”, said Corina Cozlova.

The woman says that a portion of the remaining assets belongs to the former wife of the partner, the mother of the two daughters that live in Germany. The other half is divided between the four children of the man: the two girls from Germany, a girl from Chisinau and the common daughter. "Our daughter only has 1/8 share or 12.5%, while the German family gets 75% of everything. I get nothing. I didn't even have the opportunity to get out of the house the things the child needs” says Corina Cozlova.

"At the same time, out of the several imaginary bank accounts that everyone is talking about, only one exists, which has one thousand lei in debt. This information is known to all involved parties, including the German family, and was confirmed at the joint meeting at the notary. I can't be blamed to have any material interests in the context of a debt ridden bank account. It is impossible not to react to defamation. These are lies. I am not married, nor have I ever been, neither with the deceased, nor with anyone else” said the woman.

According to her, the two daughters from Germany have filed a civil lawsuit against her, claiming half a million lei as material injury and over 28 thousand lei in property damage. "I wonder, who has material interests?" asks Corina Cozlova.

The woman called the accusations that she phoned 112 in order to secure an alibi and did not communicate about danger - aberrant. She quoted the statements of the carabinieri who she stopped on the street, after she left the house with the child. They reported that they were stopped by a woman with a child, who left the house after waking up due to smoke. The case was reported to the guard unit, then the carabinieri called the police. Corina Cozlova says she called 122 from her personal number as well, showing her call history with the operator. While calling 112,  she told the operator that there is smoke in the house and provided the partner’s name and address.

The woman adds that the statement from the firefighters who arrived in the morning at the scene, after being repeatedly called by a third person, shows that the firefighters broke the door and found the man lying down near the entrance. The keys were ganging on the hanger next to the door. Firefighters extinguished the fire in one of the rooms and the kitchen, where a chair was burning. "So, as far as we can see, it is absurd to assume that the deceased was killed, because he had his keys" said Corina Cozlova.

The case is sent to court. So far, no hearings on this case have taken place.
