Receipts collected from individuals who lease out real estate in January-February 2024 amounted to 12 million lei, by 37% more compared with the corresponding period last year, IPN reports.

The State Tax Service identified 489 individuals who lease out real estate. Inspections involving 83 persons were carried out and basic payments in the amount of 38,600 lei, delay penalties of 8,600 lei and fines totaling 6,400 lei were additionally calculated to the state budget.

In January-February 2024, 4,514 lease agreements were registered, up 16% on the same period of 2023. Out of the total number of contracts, 3,473 single taxpayers were identified and these registered the lease agreements with the State Tax Service.

Individuals who do not carry out entrepreneurial activities and who lease out real estate to other individuals, including by using Booking, Airbnb and other platforms, must declare their income and pay a tax of 7%.
