240 accidents in two months. IGP: it is the lowest rate

There were 240 accidents in Moldova in the first two months of the year, with 24 people killed and 272 traumatized. This is the lowest accident rate, with the lowest number of casualties, compared to the average of the last nine years, says the General Inspectorate of Police.

The main causes remain speeding, failure to adapt to weather conditions, driver inattention and drunk driving, IPN reports.

Statistics show that the most accidents occurred in the analogous period of 2017 (359), while the highest number of fatalities was recorded in 2018 (54).

"Road safety is a matter of concern for all citizens, and creating safe traffic conditions for all categories of participants, reducing the number of road accidents and their consequences is a priority for the police," a press release by the IGP said.
