Prosecutors have issued a 30-day arrest warrant for Ukrainian national Irina Borodkina, the owner of the salon where Liuba Babuțchi passed away, effective from the moment she is detained. Currently, the woman is internationally wanted, IPN reports.
"A preventive arrest measure of 30 days has been applied from the moment she is apprehended," stated the General Prosecutor’s Office.
The case investigating Liuba Babuțchi’s death also involves anesthetist Ecaterina Maniuc. She was initially placed under preventive arrest for 15 days, which was later extended by another 15 days following a decision by the Chisinau Court.
"The court partially granted the prosecutor’s request and ordered an extension of the preventive detention by another 15 days," said Violina Moraru, spokesperson for the General Prosecutor’s Office, to Realitatea.md. She also mentioned that prosecutors will appeal the Chisinau Court’s decision.
Liuba Babutchi, 35 years old, passed away on January 30, 2025, at the salon owned by Irina Borodkina. Later, the Minister of Internal Affairs confirmed that her death was caused by an embolism.
