In less than a month, the Ministry of Information Development (MDI) has issued 410 pairs of vehicle tags in the K series in a move to meet the demand for vanity plates.
MDI officials told a news conference on July 15 that the new plates have been issued in accordance with the Ministry's ordinance #52, which took effect on June 18.
The K series, standing for Kishinev, came to replace the C series, standing for Chisinau, after the latter started running out of the 'lucky' and 'magical' combinations of numbers, like triple 7, demanded by those who want to personalize their cars in some way.
The price of the so-called vanity plates remained unchanged – 370 lei.
