The recent frost left a number of residents of the capital city without water after unprotected water installations got frozen. According to Apă-Canal Chisinau, about 10 cases of freezing of water pipes and meters, particularly in the private sector, were recorded by the dispatcher’s department of the company. Teams of specialists are intervening on request to remedy the problems, IPN reports.
In order to avoid possible damage and unnecessary costs, consumers are urged to ensure the thermal insulation of places where there are metering installations, internal sewerage networks and water pipes, ensuring access only to meter readings. Housing sector managers are obliged to protect this equipment and piping.
If the required conditions are not met, the operator does not bear responsibility for the subsequent interruption in water supply services following the freezing of metering installations, noted Apă-Canal Chisinau.
Consumers can inform about frozen or damaged meters by dialing the phone number indicated in the water bill.
