The Chisinau International Airport will have to pay the wife of Igor Ciofu, killed in the armed attack in the summer of 2023, 4.3 million lei as a lump sum compensation and 200 thousand lei in compensation for moral damages. A judgment in this regard was handed down by the Chisinau Court, IPN reports.
"The amount of 4,383,828.96 (four million three hundred and eighty three thousand eight hundred and twenty eight) lei as lump sum compensation for the death of the worker Ciofu Igor Ciofu Diana, as a result of a work accident, and the amount of 200,000 (two hundred thousand) lei as moral damages, shall be collected from the "Chisinau International Airport" to the benefit of the plaintiff Ciofu Diana", the court judgment reads.
Similarly, the Chisinau International Airport will have to pay 50 thousand lei to the state budget in court costs, in the form of a state fee.
The judgment can be appealed to the Chisinau Court of Appeal within 30 days.
The airport security inspector Igor Ciofu and his colleague, non-commissioned officer, superior of the Border Control Unit of the Border Police Sector of the Chisinau International Airport International Airport, Sergey Muntean, were shot dead by a passenger, a foreign citizen, who was not allowed to enter the country, on June 30, 2023. The attacker, who was from Tajikistan, was wounded during the assault and later died in hospital.
