Comrat College built with Turkey's support will bear President Erdogan’s name

The educational process at the Comrat Industrial College, which has been built with Turkey’s support, will most likely begin in September 2025, said Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun. The Moldovan and Turkish sides agreed that the institution will bear the name of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, IPN reports.

Dan Perciun told a press conference that the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova had a constructive discussion with the Ministry of Education of Turkey two weeks ago and most of the elements that had to be set correctly in this negotiation process were clarified. They discussed how to choose the director of this educational institution that will be a public institution of the Republic of Moldova. However, given the investment made by the Turkish side, it will also have a codirector, a management board representing the Turkish side, which is not specific to educational institutions in Moldova. But an exception was made in this case.

It was also decided that the training would take place in Romanian, English and Turkish. Administrative and logistical elements were also clarified. The complex built by the Turkish side will be transferred under the ownership of the Republic of Moldova. Moldova will bear the maintenance costs, will finance the institution through the state order.

The Industrial College in Comrat will be attended by up to 1,000 students. Teachers are to be recruited.

The project was launched in 2020 to train specialists in the field of information systems and information technology.
