Conflict between parcel and passenger carriers working on Moldova-Italy route

A 38-year-old man transporting passengers and parcels on the Italy-Moldova route complained to the police that he was threatened with violence and told to pay money for being allowed to continue to work. As he didn’t accept the conditions of those who blackmailed him, he was attacked and robbed of money and the parcels he was conveying. The police started a criminal case and identified a number of suspects. Two of them were arrested, IPN reports, quoting the General Police Inspectorate.

The man related that several individuals attacked him in the Italian city Torino last summer. They stole his car, €950 and the parcels to the value of about €3,500 that he was to bring to Moldova. The police identified the organizers of the attack, who turned out to be three Italy-Moldova route owners. These contracted three persons aged between 21 and 27 to stage the attack. The prosecutors are to ask for arrest warrants for the other persons involved.

The stolen things were returned. The culprits face 13 to 15 years in jail.
