Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca considers that the legislation should be modified so that the deputy mayors and district heads are named for definite terms in office, Info-Prim Neo reports. “In the future, we will propose amendments to the legislation so that the tenure of the mayor, deputy mayors, the district heads and deputy heads is four years and there is a logic when taking up the seats,” the mayor told the press. Dorin Chirtoaca said that the members of the Chisinau Municipal Council must vote in two deputy mayors. “We have only two deputy mayors now serving, but on an interim basis. Two more deputy mayors should be appointed. There may be made certain changes. A number of hypotheses are being discussed,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. The meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council set for February 1, where the election of the deputy mayors was to be put to the vote, was postponed to an unspecified date.
