The restoration works at "Eternity" memorial complex in Centru district of the capital city are in full swing. The central element of the complex – the Eternal Fire with five weapons – is being rehabilitated. The black granite at the bottom of the five weapons is being restored. Also, massive work is being done to change the damaged pavement, IPN reports.

"I specify that the municipality took over the complex from the government in a deplorable state. Homeless people and people with a deviant behavior were sheltering there," said the mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban.

According to him, the rehabilitation works have already been carried out for two months, and the workers are making effort to bring the area complete them by May 9.

So far, the "Sorrowful Mother" Monument has been cleaned. The lighting system of the complex is also being modernized.

"Previously, the area was not illuminated. In order to increase the degree of security, video surveillance cameras were installed on the perimeter of the complex," said the mayor.

The green spaces are also under rehabilitation. New trees, shrubs and flowers will be planted. At the same time, part of the urban furniture will be changed and new garbage cans will be installed.

The Cabinet in July 2024 approved the transfer of "Eternity" complex to the Chisinau municipality.
