Hail affects over 30 ha of vineyards and orchards in Cahul district

More than 26 hectares of vineyards and 6 hectares of orchards were damaged by hail in Cahul district in the evening of July 23. The high winds downed trees and electricity poles, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, slates were pulled off from over 1,000 square meters of the roofs of the dorm and the administrative block of the Vocational School No. 2 in Cahul town.

Hail fell in six settlements of Cahul district, namely Cotihana, Alexanderfeld, Zarnesti, Lebedenco, Pelinei, and Rosu. The local commissions for emergencies are to assess the damage caused.

Forecasters said it will rain in parts on Friday, but temperatures will rise to 28 degrees Celsius at noon. Similar temperatures are forecast for Saturday, while on Sunday they will go up to 30 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature will be 17 degrees Celsius.
