A 43-year-old man from Straseni was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for domestic violence, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Prosecutor General’s Office said that last November, being under the influence, the man punched his wife, breaking her jaw. He said he got angry as he thought that his wife prepared the steak from dog meat. The man earlier committed other violations. By an order issued by the Straseni District Court last April, he was obliged not to contact with his wife and their five children. He was also punished administratively 11 times for using physical and psychological violence against his wife. In 2007 he got three years for breaking her leg. According to statistics, more than 300 criminal cases over domestic violence were started in ten months of 2011. The victims included 251 women and 72 men. In the same period, the prosecutors submitted 175 applications to courts, asking issuing restraining orders for victims of domestic violence.
