A Chisinau man murdered an 82-year-old woman and stole 200 lei from her, which he later spent on beer and ice cream. According to a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office, the man was sentenced to 20 years in jail, whereas the prosecution asked for a life sentence, reports info-Prim Neo. The murder was committed in April 2011. The man came to the woman’s home to receive money for the food he had previously brought her. The old lady took two 50 lei bills from under the tablecloth, and gave one of them to the man. Upset that he had received too little, he hit the woman on the head with a hammer, repeatedly. Upon realizing that the woman is dead, the man took the other 50 lei bill from her hand, and then another 100 lei from under the tablecloth, and left the building. During interrogations the man said that he had spent the money on beer and ice cream. According to the prosecutors, this is not the man’s first breach of the Law.
