A man managed to steal thousands of lei from automated teller machines by putting a piece of plastic with adhesive on it at the opening through which the money goes out. The money withdrawn by clients got stuck on the plate. The person, thinking that there is no cash in the ATM, took the card and went away, while the thief pulled the plate out and took the money. According to a communiqué from the Ministry of the Interior, the thief stole 10,000 lei and 200 euros this way. The police caught the 26-year-old man red-handed. He had four pieces of plastic on him and in his car. The man faces a fine of 6,000 to 20,000 lei or up to four years’ imprisonment.
