Moldovagaz says U.S. company claims over US$5m from it
The public utility SA Moldovagaz announced that a company registered in the U.S. intends to levy US$5.2 million from it under a decision passed by the Economic Court of Appeals, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the gas supplier, on February 23 there were validated the debt claims of the U.S. company Fera Management LLC towards SRL Completgaz, which is owned by Moldovagaz and is now in the process of insolvency. In its application, Fera Management LLC also asked holding accountable SA Moldovagaz by levying over US$5 million from it. On March 1, 2012, the Economic Court of Appeals satisfied the U.S. company’s request. Moldovagaz describes this decision as abusive and groundless.
The public utility appealed the March 1 decision of the Economic Court of Appeals to the Supreme Court of Justice, asking not allowing levying money from its accounts. It also asked the authorities and the law enforcement bodies of Moldova to intervene and ensure the country’s energy security.
